Ukraine 2023: Tvorchi - Heart of Steel

Did they want to make it absolutely certain they won’t win? :D

To be fair the performance is good. But it was one of the worst songs in the line up. In a way I’m kinda glad it one because we can be 100% sure that song is not winning Eurovision.

I wouldn't quite put it at 100% certainty that it won't win, but the season feels much much much more open now than it would've done with Kolyskova or even Jerry Heil getting the ticket. The Liverpool show will seriously have to be going on Children In Need level sympathy overdrive (and the public still be in the mood for another big solidarity vote) for that to take it all home/hand the hosting to the runners-up again I think.

Can't believe my two favourites were the jury bottom two :D At least "I'm Not Alone" was shown more love by the public.

Would've preferred Jerry to win, but in a way I'm happy they've gone for something more upbeat even though I'm not crazy on the song. Also can not vision it as a Eurovision winner at all.

Aside from anything else, it just feels a bit undignified to implicitly reduce a war to something that sounds like a feud with your least favourite colleague.

How EXCITING for the overall contest that this 4/10 effort won :disco:

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was significantly remixed between now and May. Before Go_A and Kalush that was pretty much standard practice for Ukrainian entries.

Has it actually happened since it switched to the Vidbir format in 2016? Did Under the Ladder get remixed - IIRC 1944 was complete on arrival, and I think Time was too?

As underwhelming as it is, it does at least sound like a finished song so I’m not totally sure what need or purpose it would have.

I've just seen this as a news report on BBC News. It sounds a bit nothingy from the short clip they showed.

Thrillingly surreal that this is the top entertainment story on the BBC front page. The amount they're putting into it this year, it almost feels like in flusher times there might have been a DEDICATED CHANNEL for national selections (even if solely accessed by viewers using the RED BUTTON)

God this OY Sound System one that's like a Go_A version of Mamo would be SUCH a serve if they sent it. Give THIS 439 points from the public! :disco:
Oh IF ONLY. Naturally that was my favourite although I also enjoyed the one with the harp (or whatever it was). It goes without saying that the winner is a stinking great dog egg but at least it provides a handy vomit or poo break for viewers who’ve overdone the moonshine or eaten some pierogi made from cabbage and mushrooms which have been sat in a pan on the stove for three weeks with the central heating on :disco:

I’ve seen that done by a Pole so I have personal and actual experience. I obviously screamed, WHY NOT PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE. Apparently the flavours need to “merge” so you supposedly just leave it lying around to assist the process :)

NIBBLED rather than SLURPED :)

Anyway they tasted the same as the packet ones so I assume they too contain ROTTED VEGETABLES
