The Gay Footballer

Honestly, with that amount of uncontained ejaculate flying about of an evening, who can be surprised if the tufted Wilton gets a bit FECULENT?

I really struggle with this. Either come out or don’t.

All this does is create more interest, hype and rumours. If anything it makes any eventual coming out a far bigger deal than it needs to be.

Well of course but I guess the point is the bigger the interest and build up (if true) the more money he’ll get for his coming out ”exclusive”, provided it’s done while he’s still top level and relevant.

Do we know if this one today (a year after the first) is even supposedly the same one?

Of course this gay is an attention whore

bottoms up!

I totally agree that if indeed this is a gay footballer then he should just shrug it off like “so what?”

Obviously it’s absurd there’s no openly gay professional football player, but I really think we’re past the point of most people GIVING A SHIT.

There must be at least a FEW considering how many teams there are. Who knew CLEETHORPES had their own team

Whoever it is is going to be insufferable when they do come out, as they aren't out yet, and they already are!

Adelaide United player Josh Cavallo has come out as gay, becoming the only current male professional footballer in the world to do so.

BBC News - Josh Cavallo: 'I'm a footballer and I'm gay,' says Australian player

What about that Swedish footballer? Or have they tried to big it up by saying ‘current’, even though he was current at the time, I believe.

What’s he doing now, professional gay?

It seems there are other currently pro footballers who have come out, there’s even a Australian one!

It’s very “highest selling non-debut album by a British female released this year” levels of clutching for titles

GOOD FOR HIM :disco:

That video is terrible though and could definitely do with a whole lot of lightening up and a bit more JOY

He also comes across like a total charisma vacuum, but I'm just being mean now. Sorry to this man and HIS TRUTH.

they can never take away your truth.

but the question is...

CAN YOU HANDLE MINE?

the video was missing a bit of "drunkney crashes a cabriolet into a swimming pool and writhes on the hood" energy, I feel.

My reaction is WHY IS THIS NEWS and then I see that he's set a benchmark becoming the first ever something and that just makes me sad :(

Soccer is still such a toxic sport, and so much of it is brushed under the carpet due to its overwhelming popularity and the complete lack of responsibility many clubs and organisations have towards dealing with the bigotry which is RIFE. There's been progress, but if you ever go to a match live you discover that it's still one of the most neanderthal places you can ever find yourself in 2021.

Sorry I know I should be supportive but what a weird video
I can't either cause this clip reminds me of The Voice confessionals prior to getting on stage.
Not to mention that I can think of a lot of other places where growing up gay is tougher, it's Australia not Afghanistan.

I don't think he is, am sure I have read news stories of footballers coming out in the past. What's sad is that it is still considered news.

football, darling!

and I think the statement is a bit blanket. maybe in the UK, but I've been to several matches in Berlin and Switzerland where the atmosphere was great and friendly, and nobody looked twice at me or cared that a bleach blonde homo was present.

Yeah totally wasn’t trying to minimise how important it is. Just wish they hadn’t pretended this was the first time for a bit of publicity

I think the claim being made is that he's the first top flight footballer to come out while still playing. which seems to be true.

obviously coming out at all is difficult but in the lower leagues the players are rarely celebrities and get much less attention, so there's a bit less at stake. coming out as a top flight footballer also sets a more powerful precedent.
