I tried to watch The Crown last year, after all the hype. Aside from the budget and visuals, I couldn't get over how silly it was. Lots of ridiculous scenes and conversations that probably never took place in reality. It's like a spoof without the humour. And the ham acting and accents...yikes! Is that the appeal? I'm shocked to see five star reviews from serious critics. It's DIRE.

I'm not being snobby either. I love a bit of trash telly, but this one seems to be neither out-and-out trash nor serious drama. I just don't get it!

I've watched the first two episodes and I'm struggling to decide who I hate more. Thatcher, obviously, is Thatcher. But the way the royal family just hung a commoner out to dry really is awful as well.

On episode three and loving it - it's so fucking well made. The editing around Lord Mountbatten's death and the way they were informed was ASTONISHING. I also loved Diana leaving her flatmates, the long descent down the staircase indicating the beginning of the end for her.
