The Crown - Netflix Elizabeth II Drama

I tried to watch The Crown last year, after all the hype. Aside from the budget and visuals, I couldn't get over how silly it was. Lots of ridiculous scenes and conversations that probably never took place in reality. It's like a spoof without the humour. And the ham acting and accents...yikes! Is that the appeal? I'm shocked to see five star reviews from serious critics. It's DIRE.

I'm not being snobby either. I love a bit of trash telly, but this one seems to be neither out-and-out trash nor serious drama. I just don't get it!

I’m just starting this now. Gave up halfway through Series 1 as I found it quite DULL just because anything to do with WW2 and the aftermath has been done to death in every aspect, but now we’re in a decent era I will pick it up again.

Also the clips of Gillian Anderson have been astounding!

I wonder if she saw Baga Chipz Thatcher before doing this. Her performance is certainly not a glowing tribute.

10 minutes in and I'm already gagged at Gillian Anderson's Thatcher!

In a good way or in a Spitting Image impression way? The trailer suggests the latter to me...

Getting into this for the first time for Gillian. I want to bang Prince Charles in this universe.

Obviously Princess Diana is a personal icon, but I never understood the idea that she was hot. I suspect the horrible 80s hair threw me off.

Me and my gays went through a long stage of sending each other Princess Diana porn fakes. She looks a lot better with a group of cocks around her face.

I've just read Prince Edward is played by the creepy nephew from Fleabag. Amazing. I hope we gets Its A Knockout.

I've just remembered Lesley Manville is going to be the final Margaret. I cannot wait.

I've watched the first two episodes and I'm struggling to decide who I hate more. Thatcher, obviously, is Thatcher. But the way the royal family just hung a commoner out to dry really is awful as well.

So glad this show is back.

episode 3 is a bit less thrilling but my god that Camilla and Diana lunch debacle :D surely that didn't happen?

don't get me wrong though, I'm all for liberties being taken to "zhuzh up" mundane affairs :disco:

I think by the end of this season I will absolutely despise real life Charles.
