Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe

The LP is a thing of beauty. Card slip cover, gatefold sleeve, little silver stars inside the sleeve (!) and a superb pressing - flat, on centre, no extraneous noise. IT's also a fucking great album - amazing how many of these songs I'd already heard bits of. I did not have 2024 being a banner year for pop music on my bingo card but, good grief, it really is. Even if this was released in 2023...
 
I suspect this might need to wait until next week or the one after to get a go at #1 in the UK.
 
Obviously Good Luck, is an absolute top end pop treat for the ages and she seems like the star we deserve, but I'm not getting on with the album. Which is a shame.

Went like shit off a shovel - 12000 albums in 15 minutes. I was online for the "drop" but I felt like I didn't need it. The pressing I've got is just fine, I don't need another. Sounds like I could have been unsuccessful anyway, given the scale of the demand.

She's a bit of an oddball but I think it also gives her the perspective of asking some simple, crucial questions when it comes the crazy industry that has built her up very rapidly over the last 6 months after trudging away for 8 years.

Unfortunately, Blood have been getting abuse from some stans who missed out which is appalling behaviour. Give them credit for weeding out scalpers who put it on eBay as soon as their order was confirmed, at least.
 
Looking back at the first post of the thread and chuckling at what a great illustration the “such a shame she hasn’t managed to bag any UK Pride bookings” is of how much she’s exploded in the last few months.

Imagine if you were the pride booker earlier this year who was faced with the choice between booking some nobody called Chappell Roan or a safe bet like Natasha Hamilton...
 
How do you have 'scheduling difficulties' on your own pre-arranged tour? :D
