The Conservatives: The Wilderness Years

Amazing that the Tories are on four female leaders, and two BAME leaders.

Talk platforming the repressed quarters of society that they've historically shat upon.

As much as I am happier with a Labour government, it really does show the Labour party up in a big way. They absolutely HAVE to elect a woman as their next leader surely.

Have you had GPs younger than yourselves yet?

I remember that freaked me out the first time.

Now one surgery I'm based at, I'm older than all ten GPs who work there.

I've still not had a PM younger than me, but Rishi (and Kemi and Angela Rayner) were in my school year.

I can't remember the last time I saw a GP in person. I'm sure that will change soon though.

Rowling still being fucking VILE

Yeah it's not a good look that Labour never wants to shift away from Safe White Bloke. Much as I hate the Tories they have a couple of things going for them, one is that they actually believe in something (shame what they believe in is vile shit) vs. the party of "idk lol whatever gets us in power", the other is that they're way ahead when it comes to elevating women, BAME etc. It must really confuse the type of Tory supporter who complains about "woke box ticking" - maybe they'll all go Reform.

The GP I saw time before last didn't even look old enough to drive a car!

I don't think it's that thing of "you're so old everyone looks like a child", e.g. 18 year olds still seem recognisable as "this person looks about 18" to me but this one was just the type with a serious case of baby face. I have little doubt that he gets ID checked for alcohol constantly.

But yeah since reaching my 40s there is a definite feeling of "everyone is younger than me" now when it comes to political leaders, GPs, TV presenters etc.

She looks like Sarah Paulson doing an Emmy-nominated turn as a campy, real-life murderess for Ryan Murphy

Well, just had a fun conversation with my mum, which ended with us listing which Tories remind us of my brother. Robert Jenrick was top for her.

The job description for a politician's spouse is basically sit quietly in the back like an M&S mannequin so I quite like that she's clearly said "No! I want to dress like the inside of Brighton Pavilion today." Power move.

I've always been quite scared of a bold pattern. I'll go to houndstooth or a Prince of Wales check on one half of my body and that's it. So I've nothing other than admiration.

The worst thing about Kemi winning leadership is our being deprived of a POST A GLAMOROUS PHOTO OF MICHAL BERNER FIRST LADY OF EVIL thread

BBC news flash that Kemi is to start assembling her Shadow Cabinet which I genuinely hadn't even THOUGHT about as they'll be so unimportant at the current time. Chief Whip is Rebecca Harris who is a big WHO?

She's the new IDS. She'll achieve nothing as leader but will nonetheless hang around politics like a stale fart being awful for decades to come.

I believe they have neighbouring constituencies :side-eye:
