WE WOULD NEVERthere's always those who take it TOO FAR and will take one reaction from one snapshot in time and assume a WHOLE personality and evil intentions behind it
Yeah I'm with him there.
I'm thrilled that we didn't have a boring inevitable result and something interesting actually happened, but the toxic parts of the Eurovision fandom (i.e. the ones who don't have a job and talk nothing but Eurovision) are relishing in his defeat, even days later.
I'm sure I, at the time in my slightly wine-tipsy state, probably made a comment him looking pissed off, but there's always those who take it TOO FAR and will take one reaction from one snapshot in time and assume a WHOLE personality and evil intentions behind it. Can't these people look at hindsight and give him some credence for being a bit upset?
WE WOULD NEVER

Do I feel bad for him, yeah a little.
Am I still amused at this excellent reaction shot? OF COURSE

It's the drama, Sheena. I just love it!Can I ask?
Why?
Because that to me is just a man who looks sad. Not someone furious a la Lundvik, not someone being a cunt…
I just don’t get this desire to see someone miserable.

Although I do think the way he spoke to multiple journalists on the night, in multiple languages, is worthy of a bit more criticism than if he just made one off the cuff comment before he got his game face on. However, I don't think it is that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. We surely want a full range of emotion from our entertainment anyway
Yes, and I also think there's a difference between people reacting to something in the moment, and people waking up days later and STILL pedalling that same vitriol after the dust has settled in an attempt for what? Rising it all up again because you've not got a lot else going on?I think there are a few things at play here. Is he right to be disappointed? Of course - he came very close to winning and didn’t, and that’s always going to sting. But he’s no more entitled to feel disappointed than, say, Malou Prytz for coming what was probably a devastating 5th in her heat, or Victoria Silvstedt for her record breaking app vote failing to register. At the end of the day, you haven’t won until the crown is firmly on your head.
If the reports about his comments and behaviour afterwards are true, then criticism of that is fair. But the fandom is another story. We joke about the intensity of some fans, but there’s a real toxicity that now seems to flare up every year. Just look at the comments under the UK official video - Remember Monday are getting attacked by fans of Kant over a completely debunked claim that the BBC complained about the Maltese entry. It’s wild. The way people latch onto rumours and go after artists is genuinely worrying.
What the fuck? Like if I wished him death. It's a fucking forum, I didn't posted it on his IG, for god's sake. And who cares anymore, get over it!I don’t know that he even DID react badly in the moment! It was only the twisting by said toxic fandom who made it that way and refused to listen to anything to the contrary (Hi Alla and “I don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth”)
I absolutely didn’t want him to win, but not because of him or wishing him any harm/ misery. He’s a former winner, a great performer, was one of the hosts of a truly great contest where he was happy to take the piss of himself and has shown time and again he loves the contest. He should be celebrated rather than scorned.
Borderline personality disorder? On MY internet forum? It's more likely than you think!Tell that to VV BROWN.
Tell that to VV BROWN.
Oh he looks quite sexy sad.
But whatever you thought OF THAT situation, it’s an interesting point. “Oh it’s just an internet forum, it’s not wishing him death on IG” is not an excuse to say what you like about people.
I’m playing devil’s advocate a lot here, I realise (and I also know I have a very patchy past in this regard) but as a society, we’re just not learning from our mistakes about stuff like this…
WTF??? Did I wish him death here or anything similar?Whatever, bored now.
Who amongst us hasn't been called a whore on the internet?
Whilst he may have a point, it seems a bit undermined by the bit (coincidentally the only bit not in English
Whilst he may have a point, it seems a bit undermined by the bit (coincidentally the only bit not in English) where he starts the message with “dear narrow-minded haters”
Also, whilst it was always clear that Revolution was similar structurally to Heroes, I didn’t realise you can literally play it over the performance and it fits perfectly
Whatever you think, a man in his 40s should not be using the word HATERS!
