OH MY WORD, I've just got my hands on this and put on "Change" and SHED A TEAR.

Carrie Underwood, MARRY ME.

OKAY, so I've listened to the album twice through now and here is a couple of scribblings:

There's 10 hot tracks on this album, and about 5 potential singles.

"Change" is the new "Jesus, Take The Wheel". Carrie at her absolute best. TOP NOTCH STUFF.

She really shouldn't have bothered working with Max Martin. Maybe it'll grow, but WHAT a let down.

Kind of underwhelmed with the tracks from Hillary Lindsay as well. Considering how much she has written for Carrie in the past, she didn't quite deliver that KILLER track this time round.

"Undo It" is BRILLIANT, definitely one of the only songs I can see pop radio embracing. The start IS actually "Pieces of Me" by Ashlee Simpson.

"What Can I Say" is EPIC, I had reservations of it being a duet, but it totally works after a few listens. This is one of the only tracks she seems to LET RIP on.

"Mama's Song" is so HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW. I might have to SING IT TO MY MAMA when I tell her I'm a big GAY.

Initial Rank:
1. Change
2. Mama's Song
3. Undo It
4. What Can I Say
5. Temporary Home
----
6. Songs Like This
7. Play On
8. Unapologise
9. Cowboy Casanova
10. This Time
----
11. Quitter
12. Look At Me
13. Someday When I Stop Loving You

I take back what I said about "Change" it's more "So Small" than "Jesus, Take The Wheel" but it is still the best thing I've heard TODAY.

What a lovely lovely album.

After the absolute let-down album "Carnival" it's finally Carrie how I want her to be.

Sweet, heartfelt country ballads and this great track "Quitter" :disco:

All subject to change

10 Quitter

09 Play On
09 What Can I Say
09 Temporary Home
09 Change

08 Mama's Song
08 Look At Me

07 Songs Like This
07 Cowboy Casanova
07 This Time
07 Undo It

06 Unapologise

05 Someday When I Stop Loving You

I am listening to this for the FIRST TIME

I am oddly unexcited but can't wait for CHANGE. She'd better BRING THE VOX

SO what did you think dUb?

It's a really cohesive effort, I think. In other "Play On" news, I'm upgrading "Mama's Song" to my absolute favourite track from the album. It's just wonderful in every way and makes me SMILE and oddly want to have babies.

I gave it its first full listen this morning and think it's a lovely album. Much less plasticcy than the 2nd one (I can't think of a better word!).

Change is without doubt the best song. I love it.

*Listens to Change on repeat*

I don't love Change :bruised:

Early favourite is Unapologize. Overall it's GOOD but not as good as SH and without the ULTIMATE CAREER HIGHLIGHT of I Know You Won't from CR.

It's also the very definition of Same Old Shit. Not a bad thing per se but CHRIST :D

I do love the mawkish sentimental crap of Temporary Home.

I love Carrie's EARTH GUARDIAN persona

Oh dUb why the lack of love for "Change"? It's BEAUTIFUL.

"Temporary Home" is ALL ABOUT the "I Can See God's Face" line. It makes me :( inside.

I'm not sure - I think the chorus just isn't BIG enough - "Just a fool, just a fool blah". It doesn't grab me really plus I think the lyrics go over the edge of STFU Captain Planet Carrie. But I'll stick with it.

Who is that random singing man towards the end of the album? I don't like him either.

I agree with dUb, "Change" is shockingly average, it's alright in theory but one can only take so much of that 'heal the world' shit.

"Undo It" is the obvious hit single of the album, nothing really new about it but it would be a great country-pop crossover record.

Thank you for your agreement POP!

After giving this album another week or so I am pleased to report it's better than Carnival Ride. Well maybe. It's there or thereabouts. I much prefer the second half, which is nice.

LOVE
Unapologise
What Can I Say
Songs Like This (Always gives me a bit of a fright when it sounds like she says "Gonna find some boy/Rape his heart right out)
Someday When I Stop Loving You
Temporary Home

REALLY LIKE
Mama's Song
Change

JUST LIKE
Quitter
Play On
Undo It
Cowboy Casanova
This Time
Look At Me

According to the sticker, the singles are Cowboy Casanova, Temporary Home, Mama's Song (I think) and Undo It.

The album debuted at number 93 in the UK this week. :( WHY don't they actually promote her over here? She could sell relatively well, if they TRIED.

In better news, the album is predicted to sell in the region of 330k in the US this week, which is down on Carnival Ride but I GREAT sales all things considered.

How can they expect to sell in the UK and Ireland with zero promotion?

DUNDERHEADS

I presume it's on-course for #1 in the US?

According to the sticker, the singles are Cowboy Casanova, Temporary Home, Mama's Song (I think) and Undo It.

As much as I really like Cowboy Casanova, they totally shouldn't have went with it as the first single. "Songs Like This" does the job MUCH better. Other than that, I'd be content with those songs being the albums singles.

UPDATED RANK:

1. Mama's Song
2. Change
3. Temporary Home
4. Play On
5. Songs Like This
6. Unapologise
7. Undo It

8. What Can I Say

There's some minor internet drama at the moment because Carrie was caught on Camera at the AMA awards pointedly not joining the standing ovation following Kelly Clarkson's performance and making an incredibly bored face.

If that is her at the end she did stand up eventually but didn't exactly look thrilled :D

That is her at the end but she gets up at the same time as most of her row and I don't see anything drama-worthy about it...

Next single apparently "Temporary Home"

Here is a great performance of "Undo it"

Here's Carrie shouting her fucking head off at the Superbowl last night - nice last note! :eyes:

So I forgot this album existed.

But here's Carrie singing Change on Idol Gives Back. Pitchy.

OH I quite enjoyed that performance, although bitch seriously needs to learn to control her breathing, it was ALL OVER the place.

Has Change sky-rocketed up iTunes at all? I distinctly remember her cover of Praying for Time seemed to do well off the back of this a few years ago.

New video "Undo It"

I was actually coming on here to moan at how predictable this campaign has been but by the end of that video I was quite contently singing along. :shy:
