On the one hand, this instant descent into self-righteous infighting is only contributing to my despair at the state of the Labour party, but it's still thread worthy I think.

Short version: Recently ousted Labour MP Caroline Flint, who made a name for herself as a pro-Brexit Labour rebel in the aftermath of the referendum (she herself voted Remain, but her constituency was Leave heavy) accuses likely Labour leader candidate Emily Thornberry of calling her constituents 'stupid'.



Emily issues a flat denial, and when Caroline refuses to back down, she unleashes the lawyers :disco:



When pressed on GMB, Caroline gets a bit shifty and refuses to directly repeat the charge.



Old Flinty's always struck me as a right cow, so until she shows some receipts I'm Team Thornberry on this one. Love her passive aggressive tones in that video. :D

I really vehemently dislike Emily Thornberry. I'm sure she did say it, but this all looks very messy, unprofessional and just embarrassing.
 
I'm sure she did say something of the sort in a private tête-à-tête at some point but you know she knows there's not an ounce of proof and she's rightfully smug about having the upper hand in this little soap opera. Caroline Flint seems like a proper humourless twat. Team Emily! The poor hassled love!

Caroline Flint dressing in all these festive jumpers to do A HATCHET JOB on her former colleague is filling me with Christmas cheer.

Anyway, Emily Thornberry is a gay icon, and I don't see why she shouldn't have campaigned for remain when she represents a chunk of remain-leaning London. It's not her job to make sure the people of Bumfuck, Yorkshire vote for Flint.

I had a little gay coma when her tone becomes FAKE INDIGNANT towards the end. What a performance.

I can exclusively reveal that Queen Emily called Caroline Flint's constituents stupid on Rebekah Vardy's Instagram account.

Even before Thornberry's rebuttal I just thought to myself what a miserable bitter bitch Flint sounds. Yes you lost your job, but take it out on the Tories, not your own people...
 
Listening to Labour colleagues on the media over the last week, I have repeatedly heard the refrain that the problem we faced last Thursday was that ‘this became the Brexit election’. To which I can only say I look forward to their tweets of shock when next Wednesday’s lunch features turkey and Brussels sprouts … I wrote to the leader’s office warning it would be ‘an act of catastrophic political folly’ to vote for the election, and set out a lengthy draft narrative explaining why we should not go along with it.

Just read that bit in the Guardian. I seriously love her. :D
 
If she doesn’t win please can she please be booked as a judge on Porn Idol?
 
I’m pretty sure Emily said what she’s been accused but so what? I saw an interview with the dreadful Piers and Susanna where she complained more than once about having to answer questions at 7 o’clock in the morning. #dontcallmeinanationalemergency
 
She´d be a terrible opposition leader, but yes she is entertainment value. As others have said, it´s obvious she SAID what she SAID, but who cares, lets face it, she´s right! :D
