Yes I’m sure Martin Osterdahl is casually BROWSING HIS TWITTER MENTIONS 30 minutes before showtime.

Just been sent a video from the performance just there.

The Russian anti-boo technology will have its work cut out for it

At the rehearsal - lots of boos and chants but some audibly loud cheers too.

SVT are going to have to find a way to drown that out.

Am I surprised that there was no equivalent booing of Azerbaijan last night? Probably not.

There has been rumours that they wouldn’t perform live during the show and they’d slot one of their rehearsals in instead. For safety reasons that might have been a wiser decision.

They're switching off the audience mics during the performance.

There was a clip from the tv feed circulating with the canned cheers at maximum volume during the end of the song, and the camera panning to the audience sat in awkward silence.

I read about someone trying to get everyone to put a Palestinian flag up on their phone which I thought was an interesting idea, but, again, one they can easily stop showing.

The censorship is so ridiculous though- they say it’s to keep the contest apolitical but surely in itself, the censorship is a political act?!
Exactly! Inclusion is political, and changing the truth of the arena response is political.

I just wish the EBU was being held to account by the media as much, and indeed more so, than the individual artists have been so far.

I definitely take that point, but that being said the Eurovision Song Contest is a television show, not a gig, so presumably the EBU also feels under some obligation to be considerate of the diversity of opinion in the homes watching.

I was in the arena and the chanting during Israel wasn’t that loud. There are videos taken from certain parts of the arena where it was more prevalent that will obviously amplify it, but certainly nothing that SVT would need to act to drown out. I’m sure there was no funny business going on.

Where we were you could very clearly hear a man (far away) shouting "Free Palestine" repeatedly that cut through the crowd, I'm assuming most people heard it, and there were various strong boos but also a lot of high cheers too. Basically an uncomfortable three minutes of fun for everyone.

A few people near us walked out when Israel were announced and came back in when it was over. I mean to be fair, it's as good a chance as any to have a piss break

(Currently trying to see if others have posted the jury feed, just in case the boos have been added in post afterwards)

I was in the arena today and there were SIGNIFICANT boos at the start of the song, which subsided into major CHEERS by the end of the song. My impression was 60/40 in favour of cheers :vomit:

Ya’ll hating when she was serving genocidal pussy the house down boots, yassss MAMA.

According to ynet, The Israeli government ran an ad campaign to encourage voters pitched at EUROPE'S SILENT MAJORITY and against "Muslim protests" :ToneNervous:

The support Golan received from the European audience was preceded by a campaign by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government publicity bureau for Eurovision fans, in which the Israeli representative addressed them in French, Italian, Spanish, German, Czech, Latvian, Estonian, Albanian, Georgian and English - and asked them to vote for her. The campaign states that "in view of the wave of hatred and Muslim protests in Malmö, a counter-reaction of the silent majority is taking place. The Europeans do not like what they see."

I know there was a social media ad campaign, but this is the first time I've heard that mentioned.

SURELY that would be a disqualification, if so?
