It really is a complete HEADFUCK, isn’t it?

And as much as I accept (now) that sales are through the toilet and don't in themselves reflect what people are listening to (even if that isn't necessarily the same as CHOOSING to listen to), I do really resent the fact that the chart is essentially just a big equation of arbitrary rules pulled out of thin air.

Looking at those scores, this song really does have mass appeal. I feel like the scores would be equally high on my forums, and there aren't many songs that that can be said about. Every December, it really is the number one song, so if even if it takes a gimmick to get there, it is earned.

YOUR forums? Are we the OTHER forum?!

How do people even have the time for other forums

If she doesn’t make it this Friday, are there any ridiculous charity / novelty tracks lined up for next week that would get in the way?

Can’t we just give the money straight to charity if he doesn’t release it?

Ends up at #2 this week. It was #8 in the corresponding week last week.

21 of the top 40 already Christmas songs.

This must have a good shot at being midweek #1. Outselling Ariana 4:1 on iTunes and 848k streams yesterday on Spotify compared to Ariana's 328k.

Last Saturday it was 627k v 354k

And the same first Saturday in December last year it did 571k

Jess Glynne is the Ellie Goulding amazon music song of this year though, isn't she? I wouldn't count her out.

Apparently she’s only 1500 ahead of Last Christmas, though...which is the WORRY!

I'd quite like (albeit to a lesser extent) Last Christmas to get to #1 as well.

It's Jess Glynne and the tricks amazon will pull to get her there which concerns me more.

Jess Fucking Glynne? That's enough to get ME streaming Mariah!!

Is it confirmed that there is a LadBaby single this year, or was that just assumption?

You just know it was a Lamb that invented Whamageddon

Jess Glynn is going to get it isn't she?

There'll be an uproar, and quite right - not because of Mariah though but because of the cynical way specific streaming platforms can manipulate the charts

I hope Mariah does get it.

I don't mind if Mimi gets it this week and Wham! next week. Haven't heard the Jess Glynne one (WHO HAS?) and don't really WANT TO!

It's shit. Imaging trying to cover a Donnie Hathaway song. BITCH PLEASE!

I'm actually more excited for Leona :D

I wonder if Darlene could end up a surprise top at some point.

Mariah can go first though - her vocals are the spiralling ribbons holding us all together for a 4th decade.

how she has never actually recorded it is beyond me

She did in 1990. Clearly forgot the lyrics by 1996.

Are there just no big releases at the moment? I was AGOG that Ariana had been #1 for 6 weeks with THAT

Last Christmas hasn’t been #1 before either right?

im sure Jess Glynne will tail off, I can’t imagine she has the legs of the others, it’s just a big first week

I’m quite happy with Last Christmas finally getting number one but it would just be SO UNFAIR if the shine was taken off Mariah because of it. She’s PUT THE HOURS IN.

Oh I quite LIKE the little chart fact of Last Christmas being the biggest selling ever #2 and being held off by a song George Michael also sang on. Whatever would takes its place for the title?

I guess there’s a good chance it’s Mariah!

ok second biggest #2 by sales is Moves like Jagger :|

if it’s combined everything, Last Christmas is 2nd, John Legend’s All of me is the highest!

But amazon can cheat her way there like they did with Goulding last year. Or at least use the existing rules to their advantage, if you're feeling generous.
