Melodifestivalen 2025: Deltävling Two (Göteborg)

Expectations have well and truly been adjusted for the final but all is not lost.

This reprise perf is quite INTENSE for Klara.

Oh, we can do the little ad-libs in the last chorus after all :disco:

But yeah, this went from potential winner to 5th in the finals due to her vocal.

This was a great show - what a fantastic year this is shaping up to be. The first ten minutes set in 1988 were kind of trippy - and I loved the occasional pan to a child in the audience who just looked completely fed up with the whole schtick.

Erik and Klara were both fantastic and I could see them being the top 2 in the final. I thought Erik might take the first spot because the older age groups would lean towards it and so he would win on points, but I suspect Klara had the most votes overall. Both would make excellent Eurovision entries.

Nomi Tales had a strong song but I did the think the choice of a windmachine during the song's climax was a mistake as it revealed an Anna Bergendahl-esque foreheard that her mane of hair had done so well to hide. Perhaps a fitting fate seeing as Nomi appeared to be lost in Anna's "Ashes to Ashes" forest.

I suspect SCHLAGERZ were last and deservedly so. 2/3 of them looked like they just couldn't be bothered with the whole thing leaving the poor manic-eyed one with the silver chains to carry the spirit of schlager all by herself. The whole thing absolutely radiated such a toxic workplace energy that I'm actually a bit low-key obsessed, and if you are interested in some bonus content I have more to say on this important issue in my SUOMI EXTRA post:

so this one absolutely gave it her all and would be the sort of manager who'd try to keep morale high in the office by organising group days out, random acts of kindness and approving every holiday request even if it meant she never got any time off herself. Her maniacal looks of desperation to the camera embodied her Schlager forefathers, from Hansson to Engberg to Bengtzing.

E-mail phrase go-to: "Sorry to bother you,"

you cannot seriously tell me this woman works in the entertainment industry. The sort of manager who would regularly call staff meetings purely to announce that she's not here to carry anyone and if anyone has a problem with that they know where the door is.

E-mail phrase go-to: "As per my last e-mail,"

the sort of manager who has already applied for another job and so absolutely will be making her last two months here a chance to settle some personal vendettas. Makes a point of telling everyone that she doesn't chip in for birthday collections as it's all just a load of old shit.

E-mail phrase go-to: "Any updates on this?"

Now that we're safely out of the woods I will say I did enjoy "The Heart of a Swedish Cowboy", and again another nod to Anna Bergendahl with her horses running around in the background.

Kaliffa felt tired, looked tired, and I think we can all agree as a family that it's time to give the football anthems a rest for a few years. There are other ways to open and close a heat, for example seductively using a giant brown feather boa to beguile a trapped audience

Having just had a rewatch, I do think Klara’s presentation/ direction is a bit off. There’s some odd choices- like panning out to let her get off the pedestal thingy just as the chorus kicks in, those hands coming up on her look a bit OFF, the end silhouette, a bit where it goes black for a second but then isn’t repeated makes it look like it’s an error, the final beat coming back in isn’t epic/ sweeping enough and, yes, the lack of disco strut. I mean, I still think it’s great, but those things ARE fixable.

Klara's performance currently has over twice as many views as Erik's, so I'm definitely inclined to think that the points system worked against her.

What does that mean for the final, though?

Surely it’s skewed by younger people being the primary audience to go online and actually watch it too, though.

Klara Hammerström has ruined too many brilliant songs with her terrible vocals and performance skills of a wardrobe. Enough is enough!
I disagree on this one, I think she is engaging and has a beautiful voice. She sold the hell out of "Beat of Broken Hearts" back in the days!
I have faith for "On and On and On", there's still a month to go until the final which leaves plenty of time to improve what needs to be.

Surprised that Klara didn't win the heat, but ultimately I think the best two songs did go direct.

I got quite into the Swedish cowboy song, that would've been my pick for AC. The party track was alright, but I preferred the version which went out last week.

Nomi Tales - very mysterious, like evil Ashes To Ashes. Wish this was a NORWAY entry

Schlagerz really is the WINALOT of schlager entries. Love the complete lack of life for this among the audience, will be astonished if this even makes it to fifth :disco:

You'd throw it up Erik any evening of the week, but would you remember a SINGLE THING HE SAID AFTER?

Very blatantly going direkt. Those international juries will eat this up with a SPOON at the Strawberry Arena

I am lying on the floor, unable to get up until the backing dancers help me to

Very disappointing that Heart of a Swedish Cowboy was so straight from the hip in the end. BTW is anyone else still thinking about how On and On and On is like a love letter to being gay

Love the Să mycket bättre energy of the VTs, in a cheap hotel room Erik Segerstedt is too boring to make it into most of the footage from :disco:
