Melodifestivalen 2025 GOSSIP OCH BITCHING thread (1 Viewer)

Feels a bit too soon. He should give it another year if he wants to win again

I imagine Måns primary motivation would be another local hit. He doesn’t strike as a Loreen style two win legend.

Nor me, but he certainly wants it, he’s said as much.

That’s completely off the mark. Måns loves ESC, is a very straightforward guy, and his competitive drive is second only to Danny's. He’s said in plenty of interviews that he’s coming back for that elusive second win, not just to participate. He even mentioned that Loreen's second win forces him to wait a bit longer, since her success affects Sweden's chances of winning again.

Don't forget he was involved in Loreen’s first participation too...

POTENTIALLY DUE BACK/MONGE

2021

Arvingarna - SURELY
Anton Ewald - probably monge after the sheer infamy of his reprise/post-qualification interview absolutely off his face on something or another, but if he's ever getting another shot to wheel out the Beggin' choreography for a third and final time before the twink death hits, this year's probably it
Charlotte Perrelli - more or less openly confirmed at this point I'd have thought
Jessica Andersson - getting on for her longest gap outside of the contest. I'd have thought she's still publicly beloved enough to have another outing again in the next year or two
Tess Merkel - she must be allowed to remortgage the house again by now
The Mamas - not monge as they'll obviously be hurried back in at will whenever they like, but they're still on hiatus. I can imagine they'd only announce a reformation at the point of being announced as returning to Melfest though
Tusse - the time on the clock is probably running out for him to have the entry where he'd become a doughty Bengtsson-esque workhorse who comes back every so often for a respectable midtable finish in the final, rather than just being an 'oh, that guy from all those years ago?' also-ran

2022

Anna Bergendahl - Higher Power felt a bit like the end of a chapter, but I can't quite see her leaving the contest totally behind
Alvaro Estrella - getting further and further into being the wrong side of 40, although looking about a decade younger than he is probably helps. Crashed out in AC last time, but he serves a reliable niche which is really only alternatively provided by...
Omar Rudberg - out twice in the heats, but a big enough name and likely producer favourite that I'd have presumed there's probably an open door for him if he actually ever wants to return (which is probably the bigger question)
Klara Hammarström - essentially confirmed
Linda Bengtzing - she needs it more than Sweden doesn't
Malou Prytz - you'd hope Bananas wasn't her last shot, although I'm not entirely sure if she still has a record deal
Robin Bengtsson - probably has a free ticket whenever he likes, and he do bring it to you every ball ('it' here being a slickly professional 3 minutes of pop people vote for as the clear highlight of a heat but don't hugely care for otherwise)
Shirley Clamp - she is fifty

2023

Emil Henrohn - a clear crowdpleaser, but on the edge whether he'd actually be allowed another go-around or not after doing so badly the first time
Kiana - she has a contest to win
Melanie Wehbe - seems more likely to be favoured to come back by producers after not making it to the final than Laurell
Paul Rey - with the grim sense of inevitability associated with death, taxes, and Latvia sending pigshit
Theoz - obviously a long-term prospect who could well be earmarked for the Swedish ticket one day
Tone Sekelius - clear fan favourite who should really probably either have a hosting gig or something properly competitive fairly soon
Wiktoria - needs a reconsolidation of core brand values and an outing which effectively works as a lovebombing of the Swedish public sooner rather than later

2024 - all relatively obvious across the board, but some more doubtful than others

OH MY WORD

Didn’t she finish LAST IN THE HEAT a couple of years ago? :eyes:

Surely Wiki is above a Spice Girls tribute act. The rest of them less so.
She does stick out of that line-up a bit, but really how much money can being Wiktoria actually make her? This kind of affair seems to be an increasingly popular income stream for these singers whose career is Melfest, there’s an audience for it and it beats stacking shelves.

Lina Hedlund is likely the only one still maintaining a high-profile career outside of singing at festivals and variety show tours. After hosting Melodifestivalen, she's been booked for various hosting gigs and can probably count on a pretty steady income stream from that.

Ah yes, recreating the iconic costumes of Lambrini Spice, Loofah Spice, Photoshop Mishap Spice and Rainbow Fish Spice.

Which Spice Girl are they wildly flattering with L-Pritch’s vocals, may I ask?
Despite her being ginger, Linda Pritchard is giving me the Menly C of the operation (with Lina as the Geru)

Shows in Spring apparently. If there isn't a promotional Melfest run in the leadup to that I'll be ASTONISHED
Although one of the dates they've announced clashes with the Melfest final, in next year's second most disastrous instance of counterscheduling bar Kylie's Newcastle date clashing with the Eurovision final :basil:

(although worth saying that Expressen usually don't have the tea on Melfest entrants...)
