Neighbours DEAD (again) (1 Viewer)

Toadie GONE (possibly dead or possibly just leaving in a yellow cab or possibly being abducted by Dee's evil twin)

I still have no sense for how Amazon are perceiving this, and whether a renewal next year is likely.

They did get into the Daytime Emmy's for the first time this year, which would suggest a little traction in the US. But it could also mean fuck all because the US soaps are all terrible and it's simply a low bar.

Thank fuck we can include Neighbours as as allies in the TERF thread

I've always liked that, aside from her very first year, they've thereafter avoided making Georgie Stone's gender a story focus or her main character trait.

Obviously such things should be a given in 2024, but Australia often seems a few years behind the curve. Home & Away as a comparison has yet to have even a gay regular character - the closest they came was one character (Willow) who predominantly had hetero relationships until dabbling with women towards the very end of her stint. Rumour is the production team have been wanting to go harder for a while, but have repeatedly been shut down by their network.

If nothing else represents that Neighbours is playing exclusively for overseas audiences, it's their having someone EATEN BY A CROCODILE in "outback week".

Krista Vendy is returning as Tess.
She was my celebrity partner when I took part in a special Celebrity/Civilian Big Brother in Australia in 2001.

Is there a thread where you cover going on AUSTRALIAN BIG BROTHER already? Because I SIMPLY MUST KNOW EVERYTHING

It was only Big Brother set over a couple of hours as part of Rove Live hosted by Rove McManus.

We were one of four couples who went into the house. Jeannie Little was one of the other housemates. I loved her!

Oh I really fancied Darcy!

His exit was all kinds of :disco:

That's felt inevitable since it started really, hasn't it? I did watch a few of the classic episodes on amazon, but didn't bother looking at the new ones at all.

Sadly yes, inevitable

I was a little surprised that Amazon never tried to change up the formula. The show was almost exactly the same as the one that left Channel 5.

I'm not sure what they thought was going to bring in the new audience they desperately needed. A six week Mischa Barton stint wasn't it.

That's a shame it hasn't worked out, because the 2022 ending was so perfect, they should have left it there.

Yep. There's no way Kylie or Guy Pearce are picking up the phone second time around. And certainly a couple of characters (Toadie chiefly) whose legacy was wrecked by the revival.

This is the third thing I thought of out of nowhere yesterday morning that has since happened, the others being the slightly less globally important my mum wanting to change her will and seeing someone I haven’t seen or thought of in years but thought about yesterday in the shower on the street.

I should have bought a lottery ticket.

I just find it amazing someone thought that a TV show a national broadcaster with a much broader reach couldn’t keep alive thought this would do the business on their own limited streaming platform.

🤷‍♂️

Could you think about Trump, Musk & Putin all DEAD please?

Resting in the same way Mrs Mangel, Bouncer and Helen Daniels are

Helen got a good old rogering in the Bungle Bungles, if my memory serves me well :horny:

Awww, I've been enjoying it since it came back - although the constant stream of Americans with a secret has been a bit tedious.

PINING FOR THE FJORDS

Always thought they should have just let the ending be the ending. It was a good one and in my eyes it never really came back

Although I do quite like that of all of the possibilities, the final final ending might genuinely just end up being the TESS return

There had better be no Holly Valance Evil

This was genuinely rather :(

Ian Smith staring off into space is rather a gut punch knowing the context of Harold's exit. The Madge identical cousin thing is obviously ridiculous, but it's difficult to begrudge Anne Charleston being there for this.

Some nice flashbacks and some nice shots of Aaron's biceps, but be warned there is a Background Hannah Martin JUMP SCARE

It's a shame that with Paul there, they didn't include a good CHUCKLE over the time Harold tried to murder him.

Just saw that pop up on my Google feed also. I've not been following Neighbours 2.0 but that made me tear up - you could definitely tell this whole scene was Ian Smith talking about his friends, the lines just happened to match what was written for Harold.

That's his entire last scene? There's nothing of him like... Leaving?

Who so the bicep laden one pls?

Aaron Brennan (or Matt Wilson the actor); he's been the show's resident gay for the past 10 or so years.

I guess exactly as you say; the scene was much more Ian Smith saying a farewell than really being about Harold. And whilst a massive :( at his very final shot being his pulling a sad face, it's probably right given the circumstances not to have forced Ian into filming the usual merry old street party / cheerily waving people off from a taxi as he goes off on a lovely Marlene Kratz cruise.
