UK Strikes 2022-2023

Why is it there?!?
It has a special status under international law. Despite being part of Norway, the Norwegian government can’t stop you becoming a resident or stop you hunting/mining/fishing.

A big chunk of the civil service have now voted to strike too! Including a lot of Westminster departments, most Scottish Civil Servants, and a load of the Welsh Civil Service too, from what I can see.

If the British Museum goes on strike, who will guard the loot?

So upcoming we have ambulance drivers, trains over Christmas and border staff to add to the already huge amount of strikes.

Your handy CUT OUT and KEEP guide to all the December strikes is right here:

And that's before you get to Border Force too!

people who weaponise/villainise strikers (always comfortably middle class) are really the lowest of the low in our increasingly nasty society. the violent rhetoric cannot be normalised like it has been stateside.

As I've said before - the pathway from National Heroes to selfish scum, destroying the country was always on the cards from this showed of venal Tory grifers. My Xmas Eve plans have been fucked up but so what? Support the strikes!

Sunak seems determined to play hard ball, banking on the public turning against the unions if things get shitty enough for the general population.

Scumbag.

I spent about 20+ hours commuting last week during the strike pile-up, was late to work everyday, couldn’t go to my work Xmas party, had to cancel everything planned…but I still support the strikes because things have to be extreme in order to defeat the evil, and when it’s my turn I know I’ll need their support too.

Is the Mail realising attacking nurses directly won't help, and are pivoting to this as a means of attack instead?

NEU (the main teachers union for those that aren’t aware) have voted to strike. 1st February and then 7 more days across Feb/March.

At the same time, the government release this:

I don't know whether to be delighted about this or not. I voted yes to strike, because fuck the government.

Not sure this quite fits here, but given the Royal Mail connection…

Have we noticed that Royal Mail has stopped taking or sending any international mail due to a “cyber incident”? It’s been about a week I think and it’s fucking my vinyl business up.

We really have made ourselves a third world country, haven’t we? :D

Awkwardly, my union (NASUWT) didn't make the threshold but I think all my colleagues are NEU :bad: need to find out if I can change unions.

They’re being held to ransom by Russian hackers aren’t they?

Not sure Royal Mail would be go to, to blackmail, but it's perfectly feasible.
