I did play it just again to be sure and still, NAH.

Maybe the staging will be so spectacular and the BBC will get it so right that we'll be eating our words come May.

OH. :(

It's a bad song. The non-chorus does get stuck in my head though, so maybe being annoying in a year where most everything else is BLAND will work in our favour.

The hook where they sing the title has got stuck in my brain, it must be said. It does sound like it's going to be great for the first 20 seconds, so a point for that too.

Like a gravelly sound on their vocal. Like it's coming from a vinyl.
I’m guessing it’s one of those things you can’t unhear once you know it’s there but I hadn’t picked up on that at all.

After my play this morning, yes, the title line is in my head too, but I don't think in any sort of PLEASURABLE way.

I suspect they’ll pick up enough points from the juries to prevent it being a complete disaster but I wouldn’t be surprised if we had another televote NUL.

I reckon we might be able to reach the heady heights of 20 points from the public. It shouldn't be as offputting to Ukraine as Olly was, for one.

They should really focus on trying to make the performance feel as much like a joyous thrill ride as possible.

Wait Olly was 14th (!) in the Ukrainian televote?! :D

There is some distortion added to the vocals in some verses and the "What the hell just". I hear it especially on the beginning of the verses after the choruses. That effect you get on slightly rocky vocals like Avril Lavinge, but a bit more subtle than that.

Is there a rule against adding any vocal effect to the raw vocal on the night? They usually add plenty of REVERB so I'm guessing not.

It also sounds like the vocals have been compressed to within an inch of their life. Surely with a VOCAL GROUP you want DYNAMICS?

Yes this is what I was referring. I can't tell if it's deliberate or just shoddy, but either way I hate it.

You can add vocal effects as long as there’s no pitch correction.

And yes I hear what you’re talking about now. It doesn’t bother me (in relation to the rest of the song at least…).

I hadn't heard it before, either. Still, it's only about the 6th most irritating thing about the song.

It hasn't UTTERLY DESTROYED IT AFTER OVER THIRTY YEARS like @VoR managed to do with Eternal Flame

I heard this on the radio* last night for the first time in a while and felt such a powerful sense of dread. It sounds so disjointed and awkwardly mashed together. I'm convinced we're going to finish last.

*as in Hits Radio Pride

I quite like the ding.

So the first OGAE fan club votes are in. France did a full ranking of all of the acts... and the UK came last.
