  • The winner was a smackable cunt!
  • The only decent song in the top five had the most LIFELESS PERF known to man
  • The UK was actually underrated FOR ONCE!
  • Dreadful hosting, ABYSMAL interval acts (bar ONUKA)
  • The voting was incredibly dull, with the scores very polarised a la 2015
  • Other than City Lights (studio only) none of the songs really had an AFTERLIFE
  • Finland and Estonia left in the semis :(
  • Lots of decent songs with underwhelming perfs (Belgium, Italy, North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, France, Azerbaijan…)
  • The fact that the whole thing nearly went UP IN THE AIR when the organisation team ALL RESIGNED in February :D:disco:

Obviously it didn’t help having to come straight after 2016 but then at least 2018 had a bit more LIFE TO IT!

Blanche was the only actually good song. There were a handful of others which were fun if you were drunk, but everything else was average at best.

Well I guess it depends if you're measuring it against other contests, or if it's just great because every single Eurovision is fucking great.

poor old Fabrizio's sister finally making it to ESC after multiple attempts in Malta only for her rewrite of Colors of the Wind getting a 0 from the televote. :(

TRUST HATEFUL MOOPY to measure a Eurovision against how many things they didn’t like about it :eyes:
Okay I’ll try it the other way
  • It was nice to see Portugal of all countries finally win (And I don’t mind the song that much, I just hate Salvador)
  • Moldova randomly finishing top three
  • The UK not completely flopping
Struggling apart from that...

I will concede it was the worst winner since 2001, but whatever, it was a landslide, I can’t really be mad at that

I’d have preferred Bulge-area out of the top 2 though, that revealed itself to be a sultry gem

I don’t know if it’s just me, I think of old ESCs as the clutch of songs, perfs, any fit hosts, stunting interval acts and/or catwalk flag parades, hot entertaining messes.

I don’t REALLY care about the scoreboards after June

Omg YES! I've ALWAYS thought this and think it's actually one of my favourites of recent years. The winner was hideous but there's so much strength in depth!

The City Lights performance was ACTUAL ART. It was the ultimate portrayal of an anxious nervous breakdown :disco:

Another thing for me was the lack of a song that REVEALED itself during the rehearsals, like RLAP/CATS, Lovewave, Fuego. In fact, I’d say Fuego single handidly SAVED the 2018 contest for me.

Omg we can reach across the aisle on this one. Loving the sort of SOVIET GLOOM theme, not least with the missile base self destruct sequence interval act.

OMG WE DIDNT TALK ABOUT BELARUS DID WE?

2019 and 2021 were classics too but it feels like basically *everyone* recognises that, whereas 2017 is a real underrated gem that you have to fight the corner of. I can proudly say it was ahead of its time, to be honest. It wasn't so commercialised. You had to really be a music lover, be a true fan of music and the love of being open to really appreciate that record. It's just a special piece in Eurovision's body of work that will forever live on. The older the contest gets the more people will come to appreciate it actually and check it out

I didn’t know until today that people didn’t like 2017. I’d put it ahead of 2014, 2015 and 2021 of the recent contests.
