Euro 2024

Only positive things come from subbing Kane

Hurrah for impending humiliation with Spain!

I enjoy the unintentional shade that comes through when the commentators shout, "It's the first time the MENS TEAM have reached a final on foreign soil"

England were easily the better team today. I say that without listening to English commentary (from what I can pick up, the German commentary agrees). Yes the Dutch had a few moments and when they were attacking, they were far more direct and ambitious, but those moments were few.

Can we not just put the good ones like Ian H Watkins and Patsy Palmer on from the start and leave the shit ones like Kane on the bench? If we do that we might get an early lead instead of letting the shit ones have a go first so they don’t feel left out.

I've been fairly sure of England making it through all of the knockout rounds so far. But I felt a lot better about Euro 2020 final than this one. Spain will turn us over.

I agree. It's easy to criticise and focus on the moments that the Netherlands managed to break through, but overall, England commanded that game. There was a dip in the middle but there was for the Netherlands too.

Rishi Sunak, mid May: "I mean, by that time England will be in the quarter finals and the national mood will be amazing, it'll really boost us!"

Rishi Sunak, 30th June, 17:30 GMT: "oh shit".
Quite funny that Starmer will get the boost in the national mood out of this.
