Ireland 2024: Bambie Thug - Doomsday Blue

I wonder if next year they're gonna do like Finland and try to copy-paste their success, only for it to be a much less appreciated version...
But anyway, I guess that would still be better than returning to safe bland pop.

I'd say Windows95man is if anything almost a completely different philosophical approach as a Eurovision entry than Käärijä was - the only commonality is that they're both big memorable performances and both have novelty appeal (albeit that's the express intent and pretty much sum total point of it for Windows95man in a way it wasn't for Käärijä). I definitely wouldn't say it's an attempt at copy pasting the success - it's just both are obviously entries that have big lowest common denominator appeal to casuals!

Do we know what happened to Next in Line?

Presumably the name was a reference to the Monge factory.

They were told an hour before going on stage to remove the Ceasefire script, after initially being told that they could keep it.

The EBU are utterly tone deaf - they weren’t allowed to say “ceasefire” in an ANCIENT CELTIC LANGUAGE that presumably only a handful of people understand in the first place? I recognise why they have done it (slippery slope and all of that) but still :manson:-worthy.

A braver message would be to decry all war and loss of life. That would include, explicitly, the 1000+ massacred on 7/10 and the ongoing plight of the Israeli hostages but sadly there is no mention at all. A pro-peace message which, in turn, only really recognises Palestinian suffering is an incredibly easy one to make in context.

There's a world where this wins but I suspect the most likely outcome is a top 10 televote and god knows what from the juries.
I mean I know I said it could finish top ten at the time but I was also MENTALLY ILL
GIRLS - it's probably the pesky mental illness at it again, but I'm starting to feel like this could WIN THE TELEVOTE! :disco:

I love how Sweden have notched up four wins since the late 90s to finally catch up with Ireland, only for the possibility of Ireland, who haven't turned up in nearly three decades, to swan in and win with THIS of all things and keep the record :D

I'm not saying it will! I don't think it will at all, I just love the idea of it casually strolling in and maintaining Ireland's record. Years of Swedish effort DEAD

My prediction is 6th 🧐

Which I'm sure RTE would be thrilled with, obvs

In any other year I would have thought it would encourage others to take the risk but after the way Bambie said they were treated I’m not so sure.

I wonder how Ireland will follow this up
There is only one answer...
