Are you high?Does anyone here know the inner workings of the BBC by the way? Is it a company that knows their own limits and brings in outside expertise where needed?

Unless they magic Christer back I can't see the Swedish delegation being that persuasive any more.Loreen got a firm "NO" for using fake snow from the ceiling in 2012 as it would take an entire ad break to sweep it off stage before the next contestant. The ESC producers were planning to use snow effects on the leads instead. Team Bjorkmother managed to convince the producer with the words, "what, you're producing the greatest TV show on earth and you cannot manage what's done in a small country's national selection?".
The ESC producers were furious but by next morning Loreen had gotten the snow she wanted and this money shot:
beb I don't think anyone here is capable of thinking clearly right now.Are you high?
She's annoying and I don't like her.Why?
I can't see the BBC/Eurovision organisers in 2023 being as foot down "NO" to everything that's a light challenge as they probably were in 2012.Unless they magic Christer back I can't see the Swedish delegation being that persuasive any more.
How... dare you?!She's annoying and I don't like her.
Yes you may have noticed some changes to the BBC's Eurovision approach since then.Well, I watched Eurovision: You Decide a few years back and it wasn't exactly satisfactory production wise![]()
I though the reason behind UK's disastrous results the last two decades was Brexit and that the BBC sucked. Are you high?
In what sense at ALL was there not this much hysteria in 2006 or 2008?!![]()
Yeah, the BBC sucked in its approach to Eurovision, but there were a lot of reasons behind that - partly that they just didn't give a fuck and that there wasn't the buy-in from the needed people (be they artists, labels or producers) for it to do well. The issue was never that the BBC was technically incapable of doing things well. If anything, that was what made it all so much more frustrating.I though the reason behind UK's disastrous results the last two decades was Brexit and that the BBC sucked.
I'm obviously mistaken, they just didn't give a fuck.

I thought they just switched record labels not the ones in charge of the contest on the BBC side of things?Yes you may have noticed some changes to the BBC's Eurovision approach since then.
Given places like Moopy and online forums WERE the Twitter of 06/08, I'm entirely of the view there was massive hype for both Carola and Charlotte Perrelli online in 06 and 08.I don't think there was at all, but then there wasn't Twitter really, was there?
A sad but very comforting read. Thank you!The BBC is the greatest and most respected broadcaster in the world, and is more than capable of putting a show on properly.

I'm high on anxiety for our future fate of MOTHER!Are you high?
We are all MUCH more unhinged these days too, of courseBabe, you don't need to tell me- I WAS THERE. But I don't remember the HYPERBOLE being QUITE this ridiculous
No one was talking about Evighet or Hero as being instant winners of Eurovision, for example. I'm also not sure ANYONE was convinced either was a 100% MF certainty either. And let's face it, neither were landslide victories in their year...
Doesn't she have the chance to become the first artist to go DTF five times straight?Actually it would be funnier for Marrett to go through to the Losers Lounge and then flop out there, sofor that on Saturday.
We are all MUCH more unhinged these days too, of course
(also I'm pretty sure that heat 4/final 08 thread have plenty of people calling Charlotte to win the whole thing!)
Can someone please photoshop Loreen into my George Santos avatar?
To be fair Charlotte wasn't exactly running away with things when just managing to scrape by the win in 1989 either. It's on a whole other level when the ESC MOTHER GOAT RETURNS TO BRING DOWN JUDGEMENT ON EVERYONEOh I agree on the first part- that's my POINT!
And yeah, loads of people thought she had a chance of winning. I still remember my utter astonishment when she limped home 16th or whatever it was. But it wasn't basically giving her the contest like everyone is with MOTHER LOREEN right now![]()
Already working on it.
I do think another part of it is also that 2023 doesn't look like a hugely competitive contest as it stands - there've been mutters that maybe the Czechs could do it or whatever, but I think this is mostly people responding to the first thing so far this season that feels like it's come with serious AMBITION to take the crown home, whereas I'm guessing by The Charlotte Point in 2008 we'd already had one or two contenders out by then
Also Carola. To be fair Charlotte wasn't exactly running away with things when just managing to scrape by the win in 1989 either. It's on a whole other level when the ESC MOTHER GOAT RETURNS TO BRING DOWN JUDGEMENT ON EVERYONE![]()
Especially since it’s pronounced ‘Lesley Wilson’.Obsessed with this name.
This is an unprecedented and shocking about turn from the gay community, except for that one time they did the exact same thing in 2017."Gays turn their back to Lorraine (before having heard the full song)"
QUEEN!!I love how Loreen shows up to work approximately once every 5 years.
Let's face it she's over. That Mariette clip is deeply worrying for her. So badly shot! None of the atmosphere of her other entries.
