Very offended by the lack of shaved head Gail Porter options. Although the short crop is tempting as a throwback to Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias.
 
Ugh I just got a lovely Sawsbuck at last.

Maybe I shouldn't have given up before Gen 5. She's so elegant.
 
So I can't say I'm mad about it, but unsurprisingly my preference is just to run about trying to find pokeballs and sparkles in the grass. I can see the school, but I'm still wondering about before going in. I chose the grass one.

But tell me this - are they all fucking in the schools like in Elite? Oh I DO hope so

Can somebody please explain to me the key ways in which this is different from Pokemon Sword and Shield, gameplay wise? Because I'm tempted, but I also did find that game to be very dull.

It’s more open world, you can basically go anywhere from the start.
You can let your Pokémon out and they can auto-battle other Pokémon.
There are three “paths” you can take, gyms, team rocket equivalent or finding some herbs and you can take them on in any order.

Otherwise it’s just the same old game with some glitchy graphics. I’d say if you didn’t like S&S because it was dull you’re not going to get much more out of S&V.

I’ve done everything except the final area and am on 250 caught/350 seen. I think this might be the first Pokémon game where I go for a full dex :o.

Picked the legendary Miss Quaxley, now I’m just wandering around lost mostly. I destroyed the first gym already, but I want to find a TITAN. Are they too hard for now?

They're mostly piss easy. Your first one will probably be in the desert, if I remember rightly
 
Btw I was fine with Legends’ graphics when I know some here weren’t, but oh my fuck are the graphics janky in this game, I’m a bit shocked tbh

Sadly, the three quests all have an "order" that whilst you can do them in any order, they have set levels so there is heavy encouragement for one particular path

The quests meaning the gyms, titans and bases?
Or you mean within each quest?

The former, there is an implied order to the gyms, an implied order to the titans, and an implied order to the bases. And you're meant to advance all three as you go as well, though I just left most of the bases to the end and steamrollered them

How are they implied? The girl who never shuts up told me about the first gym, which I ended up going to by accident, but the others haven’t really mentioned where to go first.

Oh fuck it I’m sure I’ll flatten them all somehow, this is Pokémon

Geographically, you should naturally hit them roughly in order, but I managed to go to one gym 20 levels early and got destroyed.
 
One of the three quests scales to your levels. I can’t remember which though. I just did them in whatever order I wanted and never had any issues.
 
I am also in the early stages of this and have beaten the first Titan, the second and fourth gyms and the third base. Running into everything in the order you’re meant to isn’t going well.
 
It’s weird that the gym number is shown after you beat it.

In fact it’s weird that they made a big deal about you choosing your own adventure but still HAVING the order, doesn’t that just make it more confusing?

With a little fix they could’ve had it so whichever gym you attempt first will have a certain level, and the second gym would be a bit harder.

But they also chose to have nice 3D sprites with grotty minecraft shadows so…

That is literally how I thought it would work so I was annoyed when it didn't. What's the point of being open world otherwise
 
Yes I completely lost interest in the game when I realised it didn't work that way. A really SILLY way of doing things.
