The United Kingdom: The RISHI RICH Sunak ERA (1 Viewer)

Imagine having a majority the size they currently have and NOBODY they consider talented enough to take on the role :D

Also as much as he caused Brexit, he also campaigned vigorously against it, which I'm sure will play well with the gammons.

I mean, let's be real - hideously as Cameron's premiership ended, he was widely liked by the electorate and had appeal to moderates so if Rishi wants to get out of the grip of the party's hard right wing and give the Tories any kind of shot at a GE, this could be a very smart appointment. also, he was somewhat politically capable, unlike any of the other chancer nobodies who could've been given Foreign Sec in this reshuffle. it's an interesting roll of the dice if nothing else.

He was relatively well regarded while in power, but the manner by which he exited ensured he would be absolutely loathed by both sides of the political fence.

According to Sky News’ Beth Rigby, some Tories are unhappy about the possibility of David Cameron being given a cabinet job because that would imply that none of the 350 Conservative MPs in the Commons were good enough. :eyes:
The sound of the penny dropping...

Cameron speaks well. He delivered a string majority in 2015 but did so at the expense of the Brexit referendum, after which he promptly fucked off, leaving a hideous mess behind him, the mess that begat Johnson which therefore begat everything Johnson did i.e. over 200,000 excess deaths, an abysmal deal with the EU, the PPE/Track & Trace corruption etc etc etc

Bringing in ex-PMs from the dead never works well. Just remember all the times they reeled out Thatcher in the Blair years during election campaigns.

Sunak's main problems are a) credibility, b) being an unelected Prime Minister and c) trying to move away from a legacy of a pretty shoddy last thirteen years.

Bringing in Cameron may strengthen his credibility but at the expense of the second two being even more of a problem

Cameron is a throwback to less toxic times, but within the horror show, that is the tail end of a truly grotesque period of government I doubt it will have much credibility.

I can see what Rishi is thinking, bring back a moderate and win back some of the moderate conservatives lost by the right wing cunts that have been increasing in power since 2019... I just can't get my head round why Cameron would want to come out of retirement and be anywhere near this shower he's taken occasional swipes at in recent times.

As much as Cameron was (and hopefully still is) a remainer, he’s still very much responsible for Brexit which makes me question his credentials for a role in international relations.

(and before anyone replies about the HoL existing AT ALL, yes I get that, but WHILE IT DOES, I'm just saying it should still at least have a modicum of integrity)

Wow the number of people in this thread who have clearly forgotten that David Cameron ran for election on a promise of a Brexit Referendum, even though he didn’t want it, fought against it, lost, and then QUIT so he didn’t have to deal with the ramifications.

The last ten years of HELL have been because of that ONE MAN.

And we’re saying he’s better than the recent rabble? HE CREATED THE RECENT RABBLE.

I worry about short term memories when it comes to the electorate. Moopy wouldn’t vote for him anyway, but there’s a lot of people out there on the fence and I hope to God they don’t all forget what a useless, spineless, trend swaying ETON CUNT David Cameron really is.

Being fast tracked to Lords says it all

I fucking hate this party. Now is not the time to NOT be angry.

These changes suggest that someone recently told Sunak that the only way he had a chance against CENTRIST KIER is to become CENTRIST RISHI and I would be BET MY LIFE that that someone was David fucking Cameron

Neat tactic, if that's the case. Wait for Labour to move to the right and then move back into the centre, claiming that Labour are full of "extremists".

Who is the highest ranked female cabinet member now?

I'm not including leader of the commons. That's a make-believe position.

Little insight into Suella's constituents :bruised:

Without wanting to defend Fareham (which is a bit of a dump), that's typical LBC clickbait- entirely biased. Note that every single one of those interviewees was a pensioner. It's not reflective at all of a Fareham town centre on a market day, which is where they are- and trust me, I worked there for 20 years.

Actually, the BBC have even got a radio phone in on their news where a much more balanced opinion is given.

Rishi knows everytime he opens his mouth he comes across as a billionaire posh boy, goes viral or doesn't have his seatbelt on and gets in trouble... so he's hired an ex GMTV presenter to essentially be his FACE.

When the election comes around I wouldn't be surprised if his campaign is May-esque and he starts not turning up to debates or sending someone else... Maybe that someone will be McVey (so it can seem like an "official" role as opposed to when May sent Rudd)

What an incoherent rant! Never mind the awful grammar and structure. I can imagine her smashing the keys as she typed that. Not that she typed it of course.
