Will it even happen

Azerbaijan were very generous in Semi 1 according to the detailed results - it seems they gave 14 points to several countries!

Not going to do my stats explosion, but another tidbit
While Switzerland only came 5th in the televote, they did get televote points from every country except Israel, and 22 twelves in the Jury vote.

Thrilled that my top 2 ended up being the split screen moment 😭 My favourite winner since Lena

Although my head is a bit mixed up about it all as I'd have rather had Croatia for 'first time win' and 'cheaper holiday' reasons. Still, I won £113 by getting Switzerland at 22/1 when it came out, so that's one drink in Zurich paid for? :)

Thank you for that cordial reminder
Now is that the empty hangover thread or the other hangover thread with no stats in it? DONDE

I'm still digesting. I almost feel sad that the thing we look forward to all year came with such a heavy cloud over it. The whole show felt off. I was constantly listening out for boos, someone to do something off script, a stage invasion, a technical issue, anything. It kept me from truly immersing myself into the show.

Ranking the acts, looking at running order, changing your mind about favourites, deciding if the snippets of rehearsals you see work for you... All of that conversation stopped yesterday. There was just too much WICKEDNESS going on instead.

The show organisers did a good job of holding the show together, but it felt strongly like everyone just needed it over and done with, and who can blame them? Petra didn't seem her cheery self compared to the semis and a lot of it fell really flat. I was drinking away with friends but just could not lose myself into it like other years.

SOME POSITIVES THOUGH: A good song selection, fun semis, a fairly exciting (tele)voting section, something to look back to and think "remember THAT Eurovision when...?"

Tin foil hat time: there was SOME element of anti-booing tech, or crowd suppression during Israel's performance, but not during the Martin Osterdahl bits. Make him the sacrificial lamb then SVT can turn around and say "see, no anti-booing tech was used!". Poor thing. I hope Lucille is giving him some nice comfort this morning.

The Dutch forcing Osterdahl to deliver their points knowing full well he'd be booed to fuck really was a spectacular act of pettiness. :D

He's definitely become a lightning rod, he's not the dictator of Eurovision, there's a whole committee who made unforced error after unforced error this season. But he's the face of it, and it's hard to see how his position is tenable.

Yeah, I can’t see he can continue after this.

I still think the biggest error was letting Israel in in the first place, obviously, but the one I don’t understand is Joost- even if they did need to kick him out, a simple press release at the start saying it was nothing to do with Israel would have saved so much tension and drama. The silence was just baffling.

Reactions: RS
Probably been discussed in the pages past, but I found it weird that Nemo was practically giving themself a hernia at all the 12's but looked so stony faced at Martin Osterdahl's. Were they PISSED at him? Or just a bit confused with what was going on? Osterdahl couldn't have read those scores and gtfo'd quickly enough :D

I don't know where to post either :D

I think I'll just go back to sleep!

It was a good show. Pleased with the result. Shocked Croatia didn't have enough to get over the line but that jury score for Switzerland was insane. Glad nothing dreadful happened and the juries had the sense to sink Israel. Relieved it's all over

Along with Bambie Thug and Iolanda, they made no secret that they'd found the decision making this week to be awful. Most likely solidarity with Joost.

And so, finally, to Israel.

I fought long and hard with my conscience yesterday and at one point thought I might not go last night, after all the protests. In the end, I decided to do so as I wanted my voice to be heard.

I turned my back and booed throughout the Israel song. I got abused by a girl who told me to “just leave if I’m going to boo” and I politely told her she was being aggressive and that I respected her right to be here but she was not going to stop me. There was also a little American TWERP who basically talked through the entire show and then had a go at me booing in the semi and we had another altercation here. It wasn’t much but I felt that the negative voice was important and I’m comfortable with my decision.

The Israeli delegation I thought acted fairly petulantly on the night. I have no idea if it came across on camera. They tried to upstage Nemo’s win by trying to gain cheers and waving their flag at the front of the green room barriers during their winner’s moment and it just showed their attitude.

This can’t be allowed to happen again and I think I will struggle to reconcile going next year if the situation remains.

And yes, all I feel is relief. Not joy, just relief.

That’s not a good thing really.

I ended up vomiting my guts out half the Saturday. :zombie:

Literally made it into the arena at the last second and left promptly again as well because I felt quite ghastly and tired.

A messy, kind of sobering year, thank God the juries did their thing. Did I think Nemo deserved to storm the jury vote like that? Probably not. But that doesn't really matter.

There is a cynical part of me that wonders if there was some plot to get behind one song- I mean, has there ever been such a dominant jury performance?

He said in a post win interview that Eurovision needs fixing. Osterdahl helped break it.

I thought it was solidarity with the Dutch at first, but I'm sure it looked like they reacted last minute just before the camera cut away, so I'm thinking they just didn't realise what was going on.

Whatever the reasons I bet the usual suspects are putting it down to WOKE A-GENDER (they/them). Has Sneering weighed in yet?

I have been defending SVT about their statement on not AI- drowning out the booing during Israel’s performance but (having just watched it) I can’t believe that’s real. There are a couple of very “consistent” cheering sections (can’t quite explain it) and, though I wasn’t right up the front and there were more cheers than boos, I can’t believe nothing came through on the broadcast- it was VERY audible in the arena.

And the voting was even worse! There was massive booing at the voting and none of it came through on the broadcast?

Nah, sorry, they’ve bullshitted.

Another thing I want to say as an attendee is that I don’t think I’ll do all three live shows again. Loved seeing the big 5(6) in the semis, but it meant nothing was “fresh” in the final.
