Madonna - Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones (remix anthology)

Good news!! Steps and Madonna in the top 3, it’s a good gay day in the world
I'd much rather she was in pole position than them, but hey...at least two generations of pop music lovers have a very good reason to celebrate tonight.

I haven't made it to Disc 3 yet. Not in the right frame of mind! :D

I read it’s expected to be #8.

#1 in Netherlands and #2 in both Germany and France.
Yeah chart will come out on Sunday. I know they're never meant to be great but her streaming numbers are shockingly bad in the USA. Not that great here either but not as bad. In fact I think she had better streaming figures than Steps for example...

She was #48 on streaming. Steps not in the top 100.

Chart position wise maybe but YCD is close to 6M worldwide sales hanny!! The impact :disco: plus it “only” peaked at 14 in the USA at the time because it was released in Christmas saison.

1. Mariah
2. Madonna
3. Celine
4. Whitney
5. Janet

is my interpretation of the US album shart
Yeah Mariah pretty much had something charting at all times from 1990-2000. Not everyone has that.

Celine never truly flopped like the others did, but her imperial era was the shortest in retrospect.

I wish LMFAO could be erased from history but I never quite understood Madge being quite fond of them. What an awful period for music 2011-2012 was with them.

Down to 17 in the first set of UK midweeks.
Not as disastrous as I thought it would be but it's early days.

Nah I’d put Madonna above them all.

She had 15 years of imperial success versus Mariah’s ten (eleven really as you have to count 2005). Whitney had 15-ish but less albums over that time and while she had The Bodyguard, The Immaculate Collection counters that. MLIYL was a big comeback but Ray Of Light/Music was bigger. On top of that, Madonna had Confessions and to a lesser degree Hard Candy AFTER her imperial era.

Janet just took too much time between albums during her peak business.

Had Celine continued at the top for just a little longer (or broken through earlier) she’d probably trump them all. That run from Falling Into You to the Greatest Hits was insane

These new collections mark the first album releases to be part of the newly announced partnership between Madonna and Warner Music Group, which will feature an extensive series of catalog releases across her groundbreaking career.

Expect more surprises to be revealed later this year around the celebration of Madonna’s 40 years in music.

:disco:

Has she had so much work that she can't move her mouth properly or is she just drunk/high?

She's more prevalent than she's ever been and I can't remember the last time I saw her being cognisant and articulate.

Sorry funks, but saying COADF and Hard Candy were any bigger in US success than E=MC2/Memoirs, A New Day Has Come/One Heart, or even I Look to You is revisionist's history. Obviously it's a different story outside the US.

I'd say all five are pretty EVEN in their USA album chart success (not cultural impact or anything cause that's a different topic). It's just Mariah's dominance specifically throughout 1990-2000, and then again in 2005-2006, stood out to me a little bit more.

She’s got those awful grills on.

She looks great!!

I loved that 50 Questions video.

*answers every question with SEX*

I appreciated that she seems to stan the turn of the millennium era of her career, like I do.

I think the SEX/Erotica references are intentional and not just her being, well, juvenile.
There is a rumour going round that the legendary and much sought after 'Erotica' picture disc will be reissued (it's Erotica's 30th anniversary in October and her 40th in the business.)

I can see them doing shite like this rather than deluxe editions for a while. Milk the cow with picture discs and coloured vinyl first…

Yep - fleece the loon fanbase first before going for the more 'generic' approach.
The proof has been in the pudding with Finally Enough Love with that press release proudly proclaiming that all 6LP preorders were sold out. Surely they could have pressed more but they won't.

How are they fleecing the fanbase if they’re deliberately making fewer copies than people want to buy??

It does seem counterintuitive for this, but it will only hype up demand for what is to come even more.

Because it's creating demand and hype and pushing up her collectibility value.
Let's face it, the record label know damn well that Finally Enough Love is aimed primarily at the hardcore fanbase and not the general public but it’s improving her visibility whilst maximising profit margins in the meantime. Meanwhile, the more beloved big selling albums will get more exposure when they are reissued and hopefully more sales. It’s a “soft launch” strategy which works very well
